ESE (Exceptional Student Education): Programs for students with disabilities or unique learning needs.

 

IEP (Individualized Education Program): A written plan with goals, supports, and accommodations for students in ESE.

 

504 Plan: Accommodations for students with disabilities who don’t qualify for an IEP.

 

LRE (Least Restrictive Environment): Learning alongside peers as much as possible while getting needed supports.

 

Accommodations vs. Modifications:

Accommodations: Help access learning without changing it (e.g., extra test time).

 

Modifications: Change what a child is expected to learn (e.g., simplified assignments).

 

Related Services: Supports like speech therapy, counseling, or occupational therapy.

 

FAPE (Free Appropriate Public Education): Every student with a disability gets a tailored education at no cost.

 

MTSS (Multi-Tiered System of Supports): Levels of support based on student needs, often before ESE eligibility.
